Macon Darrell Jones was born on October 23, 1973 to Helen and Deon Jones in Rowmanellieo, Maddocha. From the time Macon could walk, he was playing with a football. He often played with the bigger boys in the neighborhood. He loved to catch the football.
At the age of five, Macon was already a star in the PeeWee League of Rowmanellieo. Macon played in the PeeWee League until the age of 14 when he entered high school. Macon's PeeWee League team won the city championship every year he was a member of the team except for two years.
Macon joined his high school football team as a freshman. He played on the varsity team his sophomore year through his senior year.
Macon's sophomore year on the varsity was somewhat frustrating because he often came off the bench and rarely got to play. Macon was patient. In his junior year, after the starting wide receiver graduated, he was given a chance to start on the varsity. Macon never looked back.
Macon was widely recruited by colleges all over Maddocha. He choose to go to Maas Stewart University in Petersburg. He switched over to the defensive side of the ball when he got to college.
Macon had a wonderful college career, being a starter all four years of his college career.
Macon was drafted 3rd overall by the Hardaway Heat. Macon was a star on and off the field. He became known for winning on the field and being a winner off the field. He was involved in various charities in Hardaway and Maddocha.
He was the spokesman for The Hardaway Center for Children.
Macon attended Greater Buelahland Interdenominational House of Rest in Dorinda, Maddocha.
Macon was laid to rest on June 18, 1998 at the Greater Buelahland Interdenominational House of Rest. Many people came to the funeral to pay their last respects to Macon Jones.
